BDRunner Online, April 27:- A railway line buckled near Ishwardi Bypass railway station in Pabna due to the intense heat wave sweeping over the country. Kapotaksh Express, an intercity train bound for Rajshahi from Khulna, narrowly escaped a major accident in this incident. Two more intercity trains left their destination more than an hour late due to a derailment.
The incident took place on Friday (April 26) near Ishwardi and Ishwardi bypass stations. Later, the people of the railway office poured water on the railway line for two hours to bring down the temperature and normalized the bent railway track.
Shubo Hossain, a worker working at Ishwardi Bypass Station of the Railways said that after the Kapotaksh train left Ishwardi Station, the railway line on which the train was going near Ishwardi Bypass Station seemed to be crooked from a distance. Immediately station master Taulad Hossain saw the matter and informed the Pakshi divisional railway officials.
On receiving the information, the Divisional Railway Transport Officer, Assistant Engineer and other officials rushed to the spot and arranged to pass the Kapotaksh train through another railway line.
Kapotaksh Express, an intercity train from Khulna to Rajshahi, was on the bent railway line. First the train was stopped and pulled back through the railway line near Ishwardi Locode. Then it leaves after about 1 hour for Rajshahi through another line.
The Station Master of Ishwardi Bypass Station Taulad Hossain confirmed the truth of the incident and said that it looked like the railway line was bent due to the intense heat wave. At that time, the inter-city Kapotaksh Express train from Khulna was going to Rajshahi on that line.
He also said that after the people of the railway office poured water on the railway track to reduce the temperature, the railway track became normal.
Pakshi Divisional Railway Commercial Officer Nasir Uddin said that after hearing the news, Divisional Senior Assistant Engineer Bakia Tullah and other officials went to the spot and made arrangements to go to Rajshahi through another line.
He said that due to the bending of the railway line, the inter-city Rupsa Express from Khulna to Chilahati and the Dhumketu Express from Dhaka to Rajshahi left for their destination after more than an hour.
