PABNA, June 09:- Miscreants shot dead a local Awami League leader named Babu Sheikh alias Dhak Babu (45) in Raghabpur Fakirpara village of Pabna Sadar Upazila on Saturday around 9.30 pm.
The deceased Babu Sheikh is the son of late Azahar Sheikh of Manoharpur village of Goeshpur Union of Pabna Sadar Upazila and the former president of the 9th Awami League of the union.
Pabna Additional Superintendent of Police Masud Alam confirmed the fact of the incident and said that Babu Sheikh alias Dhak Babu was sitting in a shop at Raghabpur Fakirpara intersection of the area around 9:30 pm. At that time, some terrorists shot at him and left him dead. Later the locals rescued him and brought him to Pabna General Hospital where doctors confirmed his death.
The body of the deceased has been kept at Pabna General Hospital morgue for post-mortem. Police are inspecting the spot and investigating the motive behind the murder. Details will be given later.
