Farmer killed over land dispute in Pabna

PABNA, Sept 09: A farmer named Amjad Hossain (56) was allegedly beaten and hacked to death over a land dispute in the Malanchi area of  Pabna district.

The deceased was identified as Amjad is the son of Khadir Praman of Paykel village of Malanchi Union of Sadar Upazila. Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali confirmed the fact.

According to the police and local sources, Amjad Hossain of village Paikel and his cousin Afzal Hossain had been having a land dispute for a long time.  At one stage both of locked in a clash and Afzal was mercilessly beaten and chopped with a sharp weapon.  Amzad was seriously injured.

Later, the locals rescued him and first took him to Pabna General Hospital, but in critical condition, he was taken to a hospital in Dhaka. He later died on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment in Dhaka.

Officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station Roshan Ali said that the police visited the spot. Initially, I got to know that there was a land-related dispute between the two. Action will be taken if complaints are received. Afzal Hossain has been absconding since the incident.
