PABNA, Sept 08:- International Literacy Day was celebrated in Pabna with the theme “Promotion of Multilingual Education, Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace”.
On Sunday morning, a rally was taken out from the Pabna district administration office to mark the day and a discussion meeting was held in the district administration conference room after the main road circuit.
Organized by District Administration and Non-formal Education Bureau, Additional District Commissioner Sharif Ahmed presided over the discussion meeting. Yusub Reza, Assistant Director of Non-formal Education Department Roni Ahmed, Sadar UNO Shamima Sultana, Assistant Commissioner Monirul Islam, Sumaiya Tasnim, Director of Digant Samaj Kalyan Samiti Shamsunnahar Mukta etc.
Speakers in the discussion meeting said that education plays an important role in the sustainable development of a country. Education needs to be made a core component of nation-building and not a commodity. More steps should be taken to increase literacy and public awareness should be increased.
