Three railway employees were dismissed in the face of students

PABNA, Sept 10:- Pakshi Divisional Railway has suspended three railway employees on duty in Dhallachar Express train. The incident took place on the Dhalarchar Express train from Pabna to Chapainawabganj on Sunday.

Railway employees who were dismissed on Monday are – Train Director (Guard) Md. Zakaria Sohag, Ticket Observer (TTE) Md. Golam Kibria and director (attendant) Md. Golam Nabi Mullah.

Railway officials said that the attendant (director) in charge of Dhallachar train. Ghulam Nabi Mulla was collecting fare from a ticketless passenger without giving a ticket. At that time, some students traveling in that train protested against Ghulam Nabi Mollah’s immoral taking of money and detained him and informed the train manager and TTE. When they reached the spot, the students demanded the immediate dismissal of Ghulam Nabi Mulla and that he be dropped from the train at the next station. The students immediately spoke to Ahmed Hossain Masum, General Manager of Western Railway.

Immediately in the face of the students’ demands. Ghulam Nabi Mullah was suspended and thrown from the train. Later, when the train reached Rajshahi station, the students accompanied the train director Zakaria Sohag to the office of the General Manager of Western Railway. The students then demanded the dismissal of train director Zakaria Sohag and TTE Golam Kibria for neglect of duty. At that time, on the instructions of the General Manager of Western Railway, the train director Zakaria Sohag and TTE Golam Kibria were temporarily suspended by the Pakshi Divisional Office.

Train director Zakaria Sohag said, train attendant Md. Ghulam Nabi Mulla collects 50 rupees as fare from a ticketless passenger. Seeing this, some students traveling in the train caught him and informed me. I was then stationed at Guard Bre. On getting the news, I went to the spot and found that the students had detained the attendant Ghulam Nabi Mollah and demanded his immediate dismissal. At one point they spoke to the General Manager of Western Railway. After some time, the attendant Golam Nabi Mollah was ordered to be dismissed. Then when the train reached Rajshahi railway station, the students requested me to go to the Railway General Manager’s office. I went to the general manager’s office after talking to the senior officials. In the absence of General Manager Sir, Chief Commercial Manager (West) Sujeet Kumar Biswas went to Sir’s office and the students demanded the dismissal of me and Train TTE Golam Kibria. At one stage Sir directed the departmental officers to take necessary steps in this regard.

He also said, I was on the guard brake of the train. I went to the spot after receiving the news. I am not involved in the incident.

Pakshi Divisional Railway Commercial Officer Nasir Uddin said that the train attendant Gholam Nabi Mulla had received a complaint that he had accepted money from the passenger at Binatiket. The train manager and TTE cannot avoid this incident in any way. That’s why the Pakshi Divisional Railway Authority suspended three people.

Sujeet Kumar Biswas, Chief Commercial Manager, Western Railway, said the students had brought the complaint. I have directed Pakshi divisional railway officials to take necessary action. In the meantime, the manager, TTE and attendant in charge of the train have been temporarily suspended. Departmental action will be taken against those dismissed.

Ahmed Hossain Masum, General Manager of Western Railway said, I was in Dhaka during this incident. I assigned Sujit Kumar Biswas, Chief Commercial Manager, Western Railway to take necessary action in this regard. He has taken the necessary measures.
