PABNA, May 06: A large mahogany tree split in two in Pabna due to lightning, along with light rain. The lightning incident occurred on Tuesday morning inside the Pabna Government Edward College campus near the Science Building. However, no one was injured.

Some students, including Toufiq Imam, a second-year Physics student at Pabna Edward College, who witnessed the incident, said that there was a loud thunderclap during light rain around 9:45 in the morning. At that time, the mahogany tree split in two in front of our eyes. We all quickly went to a safe place due to the sound of the lightning.

Later, when the clouds stopped calling and the matter spread, college teachers, students and local people gathered to see the tree.
Edward College Physics Professor Md. Abdullah Al Mamun said, “We, the teachers of the department, were all sitting in the office room, and the students were on the balcony. It was raining lightly. Suddenly, there was a loud noise and a flash of lightning. Looking outside, I saw a branch of a mahogany tree break. The lightning went through the middle of a tall mahogany tree, and the tree split in two. By God’s grace, the students outside were not harmed. There were no casualties here.”
