At that time, the customers who were cheated complained that the fraudster Abdul Qayyum started an NGO named Meghna MCCS Limited in Dilalpur of Pabna city in 2011. The managing director of the organization himself and his wife, Ranjana Khatun work as the chairman. They hired several female field workers and started taking money from the helpless women of the village by tempting them to double their money and deposit it in the name of savings and DPS.
Then, one by one, the simple women of the village invested their saved money in the NGO. In the meantime, three months ago, when various customers asked for money including dividends after the completion of 5 years of DPS, Qayyum started making excuses to give it. At one point, he disappeared with all the money of customers.
The victims claim that the fraudster Qayyum and his wife fled with about 7.5 crore taka from the association’s 250 customers. Even after taking the time to pay the money, he could not pay anyone. At one point, they went missing after locking the office. Since then, their mobile phones have also been switched off. The helpless women are distraught after losing their hard-earned money. They immediately demanded that the administration arrest the fraudster Qayyum and his wife Ranjana Khatun and bring them under the law. At the same time, they demanded the return of their deposited money.

The office is also locked. He cannot be found anywhere. Now I am lost in thought about how to get my money back.”
Sultana Khatun, the wife of the deceased Mustafa of Balrampur Madhyapara village in Sadar Upazila, worked as a field worker for the NGO. She said, “As a field worker, I went to different villages and convinced women to save money in this NGO, and got them to do DPS. About 8 million taka has been deposited in the NGO through me. Now that the owner has cheated and fled, customers are all flocking to my house. They are pressuring me for money. She burst into tears, wondering how I will pay so much money now.”
Another field worker, Jamirul Islam’s wife from Library Bazar area, Nipa Akhter, said, “I have repeatedly brainwashed the women of the house to keep money in this NGO by going around different areas and convincing them. In this way, I have withdrawn and deposited about 4 million taka. Now, when it is time to return the money, I can’t find Malik Qayyum. He has disappeared with his wife. I don’t know where he has gone. Their phones are also switched off. We are seeking the intervention of the administration.
Rehena Khatun, wife of the deceased Monirul Haque from Laskarpur area, deposited 360,000 taka in Meghna NGO for the marriage of her two daughters. She is not getting that money either. She wants her real money back.
Moyna Khatun, wife of Hashem Ali from Balrampur village, said, I deposited 15 million taka in that NGO in the name of four members of my family. Now how will I get the money, The fraudster has fled. So why can’t we get our money back?”
