June 28:- Secretary of the Ministry of Labor and Employment AHM Shafiquzzaman has said that it is possible to formulate fair labor policies and strengthen labor-management coordination through social dialogue. The training will help institutions work in line with international standards. The Ministry of Labor and Employment is committed to strengthening the dialogue process to ensure institutional reforms and decent working environment.
The Secretary of Labor and Employment said these while inaugurating an awareness workshop on the significance and importance of ‘Tripartite Social Dialogue’ as a fundamental basis for ensuring international labor standards at the BRAC CDM Auditorium in Savar today.
More than 30 members are participating in the training workshop, which is organized with the funding of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the European Union, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden. The workshop will continue till June 30.
The Labor Secretary said that the institutional capacity of the members of the National Tripartite Consultative Council (NTCC), Ready-Made Garments Tripartite Consultative Council (RMG TCC) and Bangladesh Minimum Wage Board (BMWB) will be enhanced through this workshop.
ILO Program Manager Niron Ramjuthan, BKMEA Director Md. Belayet Hossain Ripon and National Workers’ Alliance President Mesbah Uddin Ahmed spoke at the event, among others.
Representatives of the International Labor Organization, owner and worker representatives were present at the event.
