BDRunner, Online , 21 April : Local Chhatra League workers cut and threshed the ripe Boro paddy of a farmer’s land in Sadar Upazila of the district today.
20 activists led by union Chhatra League leader Iqbal Hossain cut and threshed 55 percent of the land of farmer Jasim Uddin and farmer Masud Mia of Hakimpur village of Dadpur Union of Sadar Upazila of Noakhali from morning to noon on Sunday.
Farmer Jasim Uddin said that workers from other parts of the country have not yet started coming due to the increased wages of workers and the scorching summer heat. So he was worried about bringing home the ripe rice of the land due to fear of stormy rain. In this situation, the activists of BCL have cut and threshed the paddy on 25 percent of the land and brought it home.
Farmer Masud Mia said that he cultivated paddy on 30 percent of the land after a lot of hard work and spent a lot of money. But the workers were not willing to work because of the heat. As a result, he was worried about bringing ripe rice home. In this situation, without any compensation, the activists of the BCL cut the paddy and threshed it and delivered it to the house.
Farmer Jasim Uddin and farmer Masud Mia both expressed their gratitude to the local Chhatra League activists for cutting and threshing rice and delivering it to their homes.
Local Chhatra League leader Iqbal Hossain said that according to the instructions of the Bangladesh Chhatra League central parliament, due to the labor shortage in the remote areas of the district, an initiative has been taken to cut the rice and bring it home to the farmers who are unable to bring home the ripe rice. As the farmers are benefiting from this, we also feel very happy to stand by the farmers.
