Odhikar organized Human chain held by rights activists in Pabna

PABNA, Aug 12: – International human rights organization Odhikar held a human chain demanding the return of missing persons to the country on Monday at about 11 a.m. in front of Pabna Press Club, Pabna.

Journalist Abul Kalam Azad, Pabna district coordinator of human rights organization Odhikar, led the hour-long protest. Rights activists, students, teachers, journalists, businessmen and people from civil society were present at the inauguration.

During the protest, journalist Abul Kalam Azad said that many people of the country have been unjustly disappeared after years in the so-called mirror house. Their families are living in fear and inhumane life. They demanded the administration to return these missing persons to their families and relatives without undue delay. He also demanded speedy trial of all human rights violations including extrajudicial killings by the law enforcement forces.

Among others are rights activist Vishnu Pad Hor, Channel I, Yugantar representative Akhtaruzzaman Akhtar, and Daily Observer’s Pabna representative. NC Madhu, Professor Nurul Alam Bachchu of Government Edward University College, Pabna representative of Jayzadeen Arif Ahmed Siddiqui, Assistant Professor Abu Saeed, Dr. Alamgir Hossain, Md. Mosharraf Hossain, Rezaul Karim Murad, Professor Shamsunnahar Varna, Lecturer Jasmine Akhtar, Farhad Hossain, Sushant Kumar Sarkar, correspondent of Daily Our New Time Pabna, Abdul Mateen and many others were present.
