6 killed in microbus-autorickshaw collision in Sirajganj

SIRAJGONJ, Sept 08:- Six people, including the autorickshaw driver, were killed in a head-on collision between a CNG-powered autorickshaw and a microbus at Kamarkhand in the district.

The accident took place in front of Kutirchar ACI Food factory in Kamarkhand upazila on Sirajganj-Nalka regional highway around 12:15 on Sunday.

The deceased are Rezaul Karim (60) and Abdul Majeed (50), two sons of deceased Noor Bux of Bhatra village of Tarash police station of Sirajganj, Jahangir Alam (56), son of deceased Alhaj Mohiuddin Fakir of the same village, Nuruzzaman, Tarek and Rashedul Islam, a resident of Raiganj.

Officer-in-charge of Raiganj police station Rezaul Islam said that when a high-speed microbus from Nalka to Sirajganj reached the spot from Sirajganj, a head-on collision took place with an auto-rickshaw going to Nalka. In the collision, the autorickshaw overturned and three people namely Nuruzzaman, Tarek and Rashedul died on the spot. In addition, martyred M. rescued three seriously injured passengers. Mansoor Ali was sent to the hospital.

Shahid M. Mansoor Ali Hospital doctor Abrar Fairaz Labib said that when three people were brought to the hospital in critical condition, two brothers named Rezaul Karim and Abdul Majeed died while undergoing treatment and one was sent to North Bengal Hospital.

Dr. Niamul Haque doctor North Bengal Hospital said that a person named Jahangir, who was injured in the accident, died while being treated after being brought to the hospital.
