Hospital broker arrested at army operation in Pabna General Hospital

BDRunner, Nov 12: – Army has arrested an identified broker of the hospital for blocking the use of ECG machine of Pabna General Hospital and threatening to kill the hospital employees on 11 November at about 5 pm.

The arrested identified as Saddam Hussain (32) is the son of Quddus Ali of Shalgaria Maligli school neighborhood of Pabna city.

It is reported that the arrested Saddam Hussain is a regular broker of Pabna General Hospital. According to hospital sources, there is a government ECG machine in a room in front of the hospital’s medicine ward. From where patients get ECG for only 80 taka. The broker Saddam used to hold patients hostage at gunpoint and force them to undergo tests on his own ECG machine instead of the government machine. And they used to collect 7,000 to 8,000 taka for the examination fee and even up to 15,000 taka from some patients.

On November 6, Saddam blocked the use of the hospital’s ECG machine and removed parts of the ECG machine. Gille threatened to kill the hospital staff to stop them. On Monday (November 11) noon, a team of the army raided Pabna camp and arrested Saddam and handed him over to the police station.

Abdus Salam, officer in charge of Pabna Sadar police station, said that he will be produced in court on Monday.

Earlier, on February 2 last year, a case was filed against Saddam for beating a nurse on duty at Pabna General Hospital. There are a total of 4 murder cases including murder in the name of the arrested Saddam.
