Krishak Dal leader Selim expelled

BDRunner, April 23:-Krishak Dal leader Selim Reza, who was caught by the public while secretly taking rice from the Food Friendly (OMS) program to sell in Chatmohar, Pabna, has been expelled from the party.

This information was given in a notification signed by Bhangura Upazila Krishak Dal President Akhiruzzaman Masum and General Secretary Abdul Malek on Monday.

Accused Selim Reza is the convener of the Ashtamanisha Union branch of the Krishak Dal in the upazila.

It is learned that Selim Reza brought 30 sacks of rice from the government’s food friendly program allocated for the poor of Ashtamanisha Union to sell in Chatmohar in an autovan on Monday (April 21). Upon learning of the matter, local people detained him along with the rice at the Jardis intersection of the municipal headquarters.

Upon receiving the news, Selim, the Krishak Dal leader, fled the scene before Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Musa Naser Chowdhury reached the spot. Later, the UNO set up a mobile court, determined the price of the seized rice, sold it through auction for Tk 30,000 and deposited it in the government treasury.

Confirming the expulsion, Upazila Krishak Dal President Akhiruzzaman Masum said that Selim Reza has been expelled from the post of convener of Ashtamanisha Union Krishak Dal on charges of being involved in activities against party discipline. In addition, a five-member committee has been formed to find out whether anyone else in the party was involved in the rice-related incident. In this regard, the accused Selim Reza’s statement could not be known as he did not get a response when he tried to contact him on his mobile phone.
