PABNA, Oct 02:- Sharadiya Durga Puja, the iconic celebration of the Hindu community in Bangladesh. No other festival in the Hindu religion is observed as widely as the celebration of the goddess Durga’s victory over the demon king Mahishasura.
The 5-day-long largest festival of Sanatani Hindu Durga Puja ends with joy and sorrow. A total of 345 pujas were held in 9 upazilas of Pabna district. But it is observed that there was no sense of joy surrounding the festival. Suppose there is no untoward incident anywhere in the district. There was adequate security in every mondop. The activity of the law enforcement forces, including Ansar, was quite good.
You have not seen the crowd of people shopping in the Puja market this time. This year’s buying is less than last year with traders. Traders said that no have been bought since the time of Corona. Gouranga Chandra Ghosh stated that most Hindus are involved in small businesses. They do not want to invest their capital in the industry at this moment or buy and spend it. There is also a fear of the upcoming Election. It also depends on the election. They have not forgotten the situation after the 2001 elections. As a result, they are unwilling to spend their remaining savings.
The president of Shiv Bari Temple, Sudarshan Talukder, told The Daily Observer that Hindus are very worried about the overall situation of the country. Due to the political situation, they are thinking in various ways. As a result, the participation in worship is unclear. It is their responsibility to complete the worship of the mother.
Sudarshan Talukder, president of Mahadev Mandir, stated that a massive crowd gathers at Mahadev Mandir every year. There is no crowd this time. How does depression work among people?
He said the reason for this could be that it is not possible to adapt to the higher market prices. The price of every essential item is rising unimaginably. The cost of clothes, jewelry, and daily necessities is increasing as the cost of survival. There are very few Hindu industries or business establishments in Pabna. Most of them work in private organizations; there are very few of them. As a result, life is challenging to sustain. Having to meet the daily needs and additional expenses for the puja, the Sharad festival is being celebrated in an anxious environment due to political reasons, financial constraints, and security concerns.
Regarding the safety of the puja, the District Commissioner, Md. Mafizul Islam stated that the safety measures taken by the administration are sufficient. No incident occurred anywhere in the district. He urged everyone to be tolerant and respectful of each other’s religions.
