
BDRunner, Dec 03:- A case has been filed in Pabna’s Ishwardi over the killing of eight puppies by bagging them and drowning them in a pond. Ishwardi Upazila Livestock Officer Aklima Khatun filed the case as the plaintiff at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. The police have arrested the wife of a government official in this incident.
Ishwardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) ASM Abdun Noor said that the case has been filed under Section 429 of the Penal Code (1860). Nishi Rahman (38), wife of Upazila Small Farmers Foundation officer Hasanur Rahman, has been made the accused. After filing the case, she was arrested from a house next to Rahimpur Girls School in Ishwardi Municipality Sadar at around 1:30 am yesterday.
When contacted, Aklima Khatun, the plaintiff in the case, said that when the incident was published in various media and social media, widespread discussion and criticism started. Farida Akhter, Advisor to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, called. She called the incident inhumane. He said that this incident has tarnished the image of the country and asked for action. A case has been filed as per the instructions of senior officials.

Meanwhile, the upazila administration ordered Hasanur Rahman, an official of the Small Farmers Foundation, to leave the government quarters in the case of the killing of the puppies. He left the quarters yesterday afternoon.
Regarding the incident, Hasanul Rahman said yesterday, “Considering the safety of the children, my wife asked me to remove the puppies. But I did not think that they would die. I am not responsible for this incident.
A week ago, a mother dog gave birth to eight puppies in the courtyard of the government house of Hasanur Rahman, an official of the Upazila Small Farmers Development Foundation. Later, the puppies went missing. On Monday morning, the dog was seen running around the council premises and crying. Local people inquired and found out that the puppies had been thrown into a pond and killed. Later, the dead puppies were recovered from the pond and buried.
