BDRunner Online:- : The ongoing Aman season paddy and rice collection activities will continue till February 28. Everyone will have to collect Aman season paddy and rice according to the set target.
Food and Land Advisor Ali Imam Majumdar said that any irregularities or corruption in this regard will not be accepted, and strict punitive action will be taken.
He said these things as the chief guest at a meeting on the district’s 2025-26 fiscal year Aman collection and food grain stock at the Comilla Circuit House auditorium.
He also said that since February is scheduled for the national elections, all the departments with our field administration – not only the District Administrator, but also the people of the Food Department – will be involved in the election work. Some will be the presiding officers, some will be polling officers. As a result, efforts will have to be made within the month of December – to complete a significant collection campaign according to the set target. This should be taken seriously. The Food Department and the Food Ministry will provide all possible assistance in this regard. Additional allocations should be given to millers who have met the collection target. The more we can collect, the more we can reduce our dependence on imports from abroad. We will try not only to meet the target, but also to collect the maximum amount. This year, we have collected a record amount in Boro in the history of the country. Therefore, everyone has to work for the country.
The food advisor said that if a farmer brings paddy for sale, he cannot be returned. Only the moisture content of the paddy must be considered. If rotten rice is found in a bag in a warehouse, it will not be accepted.
The advisor also said that considering the farmers’ concerns, the procurement price of paddy and rice has been increased. This year, paddy will be purchased at Tk 34 per kg, boiled rice at Tk 50 per kg and parboiled rice at Tk 49 per kg. When we leave, we will leave more than what is supposed to be in stock, God willing.
The current government will leave the work comfortable at various stages for the next government. We are committed to this. We will try to work very responsibly.
The meeting discussed the road complications of Companiganj LSD in Debidwar Upazila. The advisor instructed the Deputy Commissioner to resolve the issue by discussing with the Road Department at the local level.
As a special guest at the meeting, Director General of the Food Department Md. Abul Hasanat Humayun Kabir said that rice collection has already started as per the agreement with the millers. Everything is being monitored. No irregularities will be tolerated. He requested all concerned to make the Aman collection drive a success as per the instructions.
